Basketball Recap: Cape Fear Colts vs. Southern Lee Cavaliers
After flying high against Red Springs last Tuesday, Cape Fear came back down to earth. The Cape Fear Colts had to suffer through a 72-34 loss at the hands of the Southern Lee Cavaliers. The Colts lost against the Cavaliers in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 71-54 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Cape Fear saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Joshua Green posted 15 points. Tyler Eavenson was another key player, scoring six points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists.
Cape Fear's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Southern Lee, the win for them keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cape Fear will face off against Triton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southern Lee, they will challenge Western Harnett at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Lee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Western Harnett likes a good challenge.
