Baseball Game Preview: Lorena Leopards vs. Gateway College Preparatory Gators

The Lorena Leopards will face off against the Gateway College Preparatory Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lorena's pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so Gateway College Preparatory's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lorena managed to slip by Shoemaker the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Lorena lost 6-0 to Shoemaker on Friday. The Leopards' defeat signaled the end of their undefeated season.

Meanwhile, Gateway College Preparatory came up short against Lago Vista on Tuesday and fell 7-2. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gateway College Preparatory saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Spencer Duncan, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave Duncan a new career-high in RBI.

Gateway College Preparatory's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Lorena, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.

Lorena couldn't quite get it done against Gateway College Preparatory in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as they fell 5-2. Can Lorena avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
