The Mt. Pleasant Cardinals will square off against the San Jose Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Pleasant is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.

Having struggled with 12 losses in a row dating back to last season, Mt. Pleasant finally turned things around against James Lick two weeks ago. They blew past the Comets 42-0 on the road. The Cardinals' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Victor Ekwuru had a dynamite game for Mt. Pleasant, throwing for 180 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 64 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Andrew Tafoya was Ekwuru's top target, picking up 137 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Mt. Pleasant was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 305 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.

Meanwhile, San Jose came up short against Hill on Friday and fell 28-15. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mt. Pleasant's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for San Jose, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-5.

Mt. Pleasant skirted past San Jose 38-36 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was San Jose's JP Aguiar, who picked up 102 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 91 yards on only 11 carries.
