Baseball Recap: Mountain Vista Find Success

The Mountain Vista Golden Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Fossil Ridge SaberCats on Monday.

Chase Ruden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mountain Vista is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Spike Magill was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cole Bobbin, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Mountain Vista's record is now 4-5. As for Fossil Ridge, their record now sits at 7-3.

Looking ahead, Mountain Vista will head out to square off against Fort Collins at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fossil Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greeley West at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The SaberCats are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
