Softball Game Preview: Dana Hills Dolphins vs. Capistrano Valley Cougars

The Dana Hills Dolphins will head out to face off against the Capistrano Valley Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dana Hills has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with five straight defeats, while Capistrano Valley will come in with four straight wins.

Dana Hills fell victim to Santa Margarita and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 1-0.

Dana Hills saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Reed, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Capistrano Valley hadn't done well against Tesoro recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cougars never let the Titans get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory.

Not much got past Cassidy Stinnett, who gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks to keep Tesoro off the board. Stinnett has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Micayla Turi, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Capistrano Valley's win bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Dana Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.

Dana Hills couldn't quite finish off Capistrano Valley when the teams last played last Wednesday and fell 4-2. Can the Dolphins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
