Basketball Recap: Luke Foster's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Poudre over Fossil Ridge

Poudre suffered their biggest loss since February 6, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against the Fossil Ridge SaberCats, falling 63-39. The Impalas' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Poudre lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Luke Foster, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Foster has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 23 times he's played. Jake Kirby was another key player, putting up nine points.

Drake Walker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fossil Ridge, going 7 for 9 en route to 17 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachai Egbuji, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 12 points.

Poudre's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-9. As for Fossil Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poudre has already played their next game (against Fort Collins), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Fossil Ridge will head out to take on Rocky Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fossil Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season.
