Softball Recap: Madison Starts off Right with Win over Manchester

Madison had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Manchester Flying Dutchmen 11-9. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Camylie Sower made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Sower was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Mya Solis was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kalexiana Wrest, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison will head out to take on Jefferson at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Manchester, they will venture away from home to square off against Addison at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The game will give the Flying Dutchmen their first taste of in-conference action this season.
