Basketball Game Preview: Windermere Prep Lakers vs. Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks

Windermere Prep is 4-0 against Cornerstone Charter Academy since November of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Windermere Prep Lakers will host the Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks at 5:00 p.m. Windermere Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Windermere Prep slipped by Blake 48-47. The win was all the more spectacular given the Lakers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 27th).

Windermere Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Samuel Shoptaw out in front who posted 14 points. What's more, Shoptaw also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Malachi Martis, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cornerstone Charter Academy). They breezed by Varsity Opponent to the tune of 84-19 on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Ducks sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Windermere Prep has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.

Everything came up roses for Windermere Prep against Cornerstone Charter Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, as the squad secured a 71-33 victory.
