Baseball Recap: Mountain View Beats Lackawanna Trail for Their Seventh Straight Win

Mountain View entered their tilt with Lackawanna Trail on Wednesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Lions. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in April.

Jordan Jagger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. He is becoming a predictor of Mountain View's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 6-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Jagger was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ziggy Bradford was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 14 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Gesford, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Mountain View pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Lackawanna Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Mountain View will take on Forest City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Foresters have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.71 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. Lackawanna Trail does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
