Basketball Recap: Dorman Skates Past Gaffney with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Dorman over Gaffney in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Dorman Cavaliers blew the Gaffney Indians out of the water with an 86-54 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cavaliers had established a 24 point advantage.

When it comes to explaining why Gaffney lost, don't look at Zyon Ratchford. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Ratchford a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Dawkins, who put up seven points and six assists.

Dorman has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points per game. As for Gaffney, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-14.

Dorman will head out to challenge James F. Byrnes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Dorman sitting on six straight victories and James F. Byrnes on 23. As for Gaffney, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Spartanburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gaffney is facing Spartanburg at the right time seeing as Spartanburg is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
