The Clinton Prairie Gophers will take on the Western Boone Stars at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Clinton Prairie will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Clinton Prairie is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Tipton on Friday as they made off with an 18-4 win. Considering the Gophers have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Sadie Weliver was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off ten hits. Weliver was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Clinton Prairie got a massive performance out of Keera Grizzle, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave Grizzle a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Perez, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Clinton Prairie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Western Boone, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Danville 6-5.
Ally Lewis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addi Lee, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Mickayla Naanos was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Clinton Prairie is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Western Boone, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Clinton Prairie has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .478. However, it's not like Western Boone struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
