Preview: Platte Valley Broncos vs. Middle Park Panthers
The Platte Valley Broncos will square off against the Middle Park Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Platte Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
Platte Valley pushed their score all the way to 59, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 78-59 fall against Y.
Platte Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Braylon Edstrom, who scored 22 points, and Reagan Edstrom who scored 20 points. Edstrom scored a full 33.9% of Platte Valley's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Middle Park struggled with assists on Saturday (Kent Denver had 1100% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Middle Park was outmatched by Kent Denver on the road and fell 93-26. Middle Park was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-13.
Despite their defeat, Middle Park saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jacob Trail, who scored 9 points, was perhaps the best of all.
Their wins bumped Platte Valley to 1-1 and Y to 2-1.
Platte Valley beat Middle Park 62-51 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Platte Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
