Baseball Recap: Capital Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Capital, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Meridian Warriors 9-0 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Golden Eagles have posted against the Warriors since March 16, 2021.

Caden Werner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Capital is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Werner was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Preston Christianson was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Cooper Myers was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The win snapped Capital's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-8 record. As for Meridian, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

Looking ahead, Capital will head out to face off against Middleton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Meridian, they will welcome Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
