Baseball Recap: McLane Find Success

After losing to Lemoore the last time they met, McLane decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Highlanders walked away with a 7-4 win over the Tigers on Saturday.

Isaac Montes made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. McLane is 2-1 when Montes allows two or fewer hits, but 6-8 otherwise. Montes was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leland Flores, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of McLane's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 5-9 when he doesn't).

McLane's record now sits at 8-9. As for Lemoore, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McLane will square off against Sunnyside at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lemoore, they will take on Tulare Western at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
