Softball Game Preview: Pleasant Valley Spartans vs. Assumption Knights

The Pleasant Valley Spartans will square off against the Assumption Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Pleasant Valley is returning to their home field after beating Carlisle on theirs, despite the fact Carlisle has dominated at home this season. The Spartans came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 10-5 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Assumption made easy work of Washington on Saturday and carried off a 14-1 win. Considering the Knights have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Assumption is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Valley, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.

Everything went Pleasant Valley's way against Assumption in their previous matchup back in June of 2024, as Pleasant Valley made off with an 11-1 victory. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
