Softball Recap: Central Bucks East Wins Going Away Against Cheltenham

Central Bucks East got themselves on the board against Cheltenham on Tuesday, but Cheltenham never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Panthers. The game marked the Patriots' most dominant victory of the season.

Central Bucks East got a massive performance out of Hailey Helmstetter, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, nine RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave Helmstetter a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Funston, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Central Bucks East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Central Bucks East's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Cheltenham, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Bucks East will venture away from home to face off against Wissahickon at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cheltenham, they will head out to square off against Harry S. Truman at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
