Preview: Boulder Panthers vs. Poudre Impalas
Boulder has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Poudre Impalas at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Boulder comes in on a streak of failing to score more than points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 49-7, which was the final score in Boulder's tilt against Fairview on Friday. Boulder has struggled against Fairview recently, as Friday's game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Poudre fell victim to Rocky Mountain's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They suffered a tough 26-0 defeat at the hands of the Lobos. That means Poudre has now suffered back-to-back defeats.
Boulder's loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 2.86 points per game. Poudre has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost six of their first seven contests, which gives them a 1-6 record this season.
Boulder took a serious blow against Poudre in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 41-3. Thankfully for Boulder, Jones Thomas (who rushed for 28 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 74 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
