Softball Recap: Staples-Motley Takes a Loss

Staples-Motley couldn't beat Perham on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Cardinals fell just short of the Yellowjackets by a score of 8-7. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Yellowjackets earlier this season, when they won 5-0.

Rachel Kossan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Izzy Becker, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Staples-Motley's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Perham, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Staples-Motley is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rebels will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Perham, they will head out on the road to take on Park Rapids at 4:00 p.m. on May 1.
