Baseball Game Preview: Van Buren Bulldogs vs. Ellington Whippets

The Van Buren Bulldogs will head out to challenge the Ellington Whippets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Van Buren's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.

Van Buren lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Portageville, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. Van Buren blew past Portageville 12-2 on Wednesday. Considering Van Buren has won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Ellington lost 30-11 to Saxony Lutheran on Monday.

Van Buren has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ellington, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

Everything went Van Buren's way against Ellington in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Van Buren made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
