Preview: Stanton Blue Devils vs. ED White Commanders

Stanton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the ED White Commanders at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Stanton only won by three when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 39-point they dealt Florida School for the Deaf & Blind last Wednesday. Stanton breezed by Florida School for the Deaf & Blind at home to the tune of 52-13.

It was another big night for Raza Cottey, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. David Burton was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five steals.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only ED White walked away with it. They took their contest on the road on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 67-33 victory over the Rams. Winning may never get old, but ED White sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

ED White's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Elijah Sublett, who scored nine points along with six steals, and Jamal Scott, who scored 25 points along with two steals. Sublett has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacorri Lavoile, who scored five points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Stanton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for ED White, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Stanton have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like ED White struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Stanton lost to ED White on the road by a decisive 66-48 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2019. Can Stanton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
