Basketball Recap: KIPP Atlanta Collegiate Takes a Loss

KIPP Atlanta Collegiate was the 54-48 winner over Holy Innocents Episcopal when they last played one another back in November of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The KIPP Atlanta Collegiate Warriors were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 63-62 to the Holy Innocents Episcopal Golden Bears. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Golden Bears are ranked 26th).

Despite the loss, KIPP Atlanta Collegiate still got an impressive performance from Chane Bynum, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 boards. Bynum is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayvon Johnson, who posted seven points and six assists.

Holy Innocents Episcopal's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Wilson, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 17 points along with eight boards and four steals. That's the most steals Wilson has posted since back in January. Devin Hutcherson was another key player, going 8 of 14 on his way to 17 points.

KIPP Atlanta Collegiate moved to 3-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Holy Innocents Episcopal, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

KIPP Atlanta Collegiate didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-53 victory against Therrell on the 10th. As for Holy Innocents Episcopal, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 67-36 win against Hapeville Charter on the 6th.
