Baseball Recap: Rodriguez Victorious

After losing to Liberty the last time they met, Rodriguez decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Mustangs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lions on Wednesday, sneaking past 5-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Bennett Giaramitta looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Rodriguez is 6-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Jacobson, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. He also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Rodriguez is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Joey Peppard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Rodriguez's record is now 10-7. As for Liberty, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rodriguez will square off against Fairfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Liberty, they will challenge Antioch at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
