Softball Game Preview: Calhoun Red Devils vs. Roane County Raiders

Calhoun is 0-10 against Roane County since March of 2018 but things could change on Saturday. The Red Devils will welcome the Raiders at 12:00 p.m. Calhoun has given up an average of 13.9 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Calhoun is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They came up short against Gilmer County, falling 20-4.

Meanwhile, while it was Roane County who put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, it was Ripley who put up more. The Raiders fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 8-6.

Fair Smelko was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Calhoun's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Roane County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-3.

Calhoun suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Roane County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
