Baseball Game Preview: Farmington Scorpions vs. Volcano Vista Hawks

Farmington hasn't had much luck against Volcano Vista recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Scorpions will face off against the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Farmington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Cleveland, who was ranked fifth at the time (Farmington was ranked tenth). The Scorpions fell 9-4 to the Storm on Friday. The Scorpions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Volcano Vista came up short against Rio Rancho on Friday, falling 11-2. The loss continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost three in a row.

Volcano Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Farmington, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.

Farmington couldn't quite get it done against Volcano Vista in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 as they fell 10-5. Can the Scorpions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
