Soccer Recap: Sunnyside Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Sunnyside, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let the Kerman Lions onto the board and left with a 1-0 win on Friday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Lions are ranked 409th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sunnyside's one-goal win came courtesy of Josh Vallarta, who's now up to two this season.

Sunnyside's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five matchups. As for Kerman, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunnyside will take on McLane at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kerman, they will head out on the road to challenge Tulare Union at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
