Arlington is 9-1 against Winchester since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Spy Ponders will host the Red & Black at 4:15 p.m. Arlington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Arlington made easy work of Watertown and carried off a 19-1 victory. The Spy Ponders haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Soline Fisher made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs.
In other batting news, Arlington let Keira Condon and Hanna Whiting run wild. Condon went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Whiting went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Whiting a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Dobbyn, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Arlington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Winchester couldn't beat Burlington on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Red & Black came up short against the Red Devils, falling 19-8.
Julia Legere was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Carys Gugliotta was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Arlington's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Winchester, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-8.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Arlington has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Winchester struggles in that department as they've averaged .454. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Arlington took their win against Winchester when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 19-5 score. Will the Spy Ponders repeat their success, or do the Red & Black have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
