Dilley takes loss despite strong efforts from Alex Ayala and Jesse Hernandez

Recap: Dilley Wolves vs. Lytle Pirates

The Dilley Wolves suffered their biggest defeat since December 2, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Lytle 82-54. While losing is never fun, Dilley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1469th, while Lytle is ranked 591st).

Despite the loss, Dilley had strong showings from Jesse Hernandez, who scored nine points along with three steals, and Alex Ayala, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Benjamin Gonzales, who scored 12 points.

Leading Lytle to victory were Chase Guevara and Zacharee Perez. Guevara scored 24 points along with eight assists and seven steals, while Perez scored 29 points along with eight assists and seven steals. That's the first time this season that Guevara posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Jayden Perez, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Dilley are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13. As for Lytle, they pushed their record up to 18-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Dilley will take on Natalia at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lytle, they will head out on the road to square off against Hondo at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hondo is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
