Football Recap: El Capitan Piles Up the Points Against Madera South

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask El Capitan). They blew past the Madera South Stallions 41-0 on Thursday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Gauchos considering their seven-point performance the contest before.

El Capitan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aaliyah Simonian led the charge by throwing for 152 yards and four touchdowns. Avnoor Bains did her part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 63 receiving yards.

El Capitan's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Evelynn Baeza. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one sack the last four times she's played.

The victory keeps El Capitan at an undefeated 5-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.0 points on average this season. As for Madera South, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Coming up, El Capitan will venture away from home to challenge Pacheco at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Gauchos 6, the Panthers 5.2) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Madera South, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Mendota at 6:00 p.m.
