Basketball Recap: Elizabethton Has No Trouble Against Tennessee

Elizabethton lost to Tennessee back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones put the hurt on the Tennessee Vikings with a sharp 63-43 victory. The Fighting Cyclones have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Tennessee saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Addie Wilhoit posted 20 points and three steals. Wilhoit is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kerigan West, who put up six points.

The win made it two in a row for Elizabethton and bumps their season record up to 10-13. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 22 points. As for Tennessee, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.

Elizabethton and Tennessee could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. Elizabethton (ranked 146th) will meet Morristown-Hamblen East (ranked 12th) at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Elizabethton is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Similarly, Tennessee will challenge David Crockett at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 142 places (158 vs. 16).
