Bellevue West looks to be the front runner in 2015-16. However, one must not overlook Omaha Westside, York, South Sioux City and Lincoln Christian in the Nebraska #MaxPrepsFab5.

2015-16 Nebraska Preseason Girls Basketball Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

1. Bellevue West
Head coach: Rick Mintken
2014-15 record: 21-6, lost to Norfolk 36-23 in the Class A semifinals

Gone from last season's Class A state semifinal performance are graduated seniors Katie Imig and Taylea Dotzler. But Mintken returns the rest of his Thunderbird roster, including All-Nebraska and Super-State guard Chloe Akin-Otiko, who averaged almost 19 points and just more than eight rebounds per outing a year ago.

2. Omaha Westside
Head coach: Steve Clark
2014-15 record: 24-4, defending Class A state champion

A solid senior class of seven carried Clark's program to the school's first state championship since 1999 a year ago. But the cupboard isn't bare for the Warriors. Back for her sophomore year is 5-foot-9 forward Quinn Weidemann, who led the Warriors with 44 state tournament points and ripped the cords for nearly 13 points a game in 2014-15. Seniors Maya Solarana, Bridget Mizener and Lynsey Curran also return in 2015-16.

3. York
Head coach: Matt Kern
2014-15: record: lost to Norris 45-40 in the Class B semifinals

The Dukes' 36-year state championship drought may be nearing its end. Matt Kern guided his club of underclassmen to the Class B semifinals a year ago before they fell to Norris, 45-40. Returning in 2015-16 is, well, everyone on last season's roster, including all-state point guard Emma Grenfell and Jordyn Stearns.

4. South Sioux City
Head coach: Molly Hornbeck
2014-15 record: 20-5, lost to Bellevue West 48-37 in the Class A quarterfinals

With the graduation loss of 2014-15 seniors Makayla Hansen, Tori Hartnett and Maddy Voss, Hornbeck loses about 14 points a game from a year ago. Augusta Thramer returns for her senior season after posting a stat line of 16 points, 4.5 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 3.9 steals an outing a year ago. Six-foot junior Carissa Powell poured in 13 points a night last season.

5. Lincoln Christian
Head coach: Nick Orduna
2014-15 record: 24-5, defending Class C1 consolation champion

After settling for third place a year ago in Class C1, Orduna's club could be in position to capture its first state title since 2002. Orduna welcomes back his entire roster from a year ago, including super-sophomore Chloe Dworak, who earned first team all-state honors after scoring almost 18 points an outing during her debut season. With the return of junior Ashlyn Power and sophomores Taytem Coleman and Emie Hollenbeck, Orduna returns four players that scored in double figures on average a year ago.
