Baseball Game Preview: Sacred Heart Prep Gators vs. Carlmont Scots

The Sacred Heart Prep Gators are taking a road trip to take on the Carlmont Scots at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Sacred Heart Prep made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Sequoia, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Gators fell just short of the Ravens by a score of 6-4 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Gators have suffered since March 22, 2024.

Sacred Heart Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nico Pollioni, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Carlmont came out on top against Burlingame on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Scots took their matchup against the Panthers 8-4. The win was some much needed relief for the Scots as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Pano Koutoulas was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He has become a key player for Carlmont: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 7-12 otherwise. Aidan O'Driscoll also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Sacred Heart Prep's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-14. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Carlmont, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.

Carlmont's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Sacred Heart Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Carlmont, though, as they've been averaging only 2.9 strikeouts. Will Sacred Heart Prep keep running through batters, or will the Scots buck the trend?

Sacred Heart Prep beat Carlmont 4-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Do the Gators have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
