Baseball Game Preview: Golden Gate Titans vs. Gateway Eagles

The Golden Gate Titans will challenge the Gateway Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gateway took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Golden Gate, who comes in off a win.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Golden Gate and Marco Island Academy, and Golden Gate kept the tradition alive. The Titans came out on top against the Rays by a score of 8-3 on Thursday. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Rays recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Daniel Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Golden Gate is 2-1 when Garcia allows three or fewer hits, but 4-5 otherwise. Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jaden Valdez was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Golden Gate: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Abel Nunez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Gateway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Cape Coral, falling 10-4.

Devyn Vitiello made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

The win got Golden Gate back to even at 6-6. As for Gateway, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
