Soccer Game Preview: Shadow Mountain vs. Paradise Valley

Shadow Mountain is 0-8-1 against Paradise Valley since January of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Shadow Mountain Matadors will head out to square off against the Paradise Valley Trojans at 6:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Shadow Mountain's offense. They came up short against Coconino on Wednesday, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, the Matadors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while the Panthers are ranked 33rd).

Meanwhile, Paradise Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were one goals away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Canyon View. The matchup was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Trojans couldn't quite close it out.

Shadow Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Paradise Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Shadow Mountain might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Paradise Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Shadow Mountain was down 3-0.
