Softball Recap: Pleasant Grove Has No Trouble Against Indian Springs

On Thursday, everything went the Pleasant Grove Spartans's way against the Indian Springs Student as the Pleasant Grove Spartans made off with a 14-5 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Aaliyah Eldridge made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off only one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Pleasant Grove got a big performance out of A'Kirah Edwards, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Tyveona Angel, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Pleasant Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive games.

Pleasant Grove's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Indian Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Pleasant Grove will take on Bessemer City at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Indian Springs will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Oak Grove at 4:30 p.m. on April 1st. Indian Springs has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
