Pelham hasn't had much luck against Chilton County recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers duke it out with the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Pelham is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Homewood on Tuesday as Pelham made off with a 15-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won seven in a row.

Jordan Young made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Laini Stewart was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rebecca Roy, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Pelham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Chilton County hadn't done well against Oak Mountain recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Chilton County won by a run and slipped past Oak Mountain 5-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Kaylee Dunn was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Dunn was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Macey Pierce, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Lily Benson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Chilton County's win bumped their record up to 6-3-1. As for Pelham, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pelham hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having got 0 of their hits per game. However, it's not like Chilton County struggles in that department as they've got 0 of their hits this season. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pelham came up short against Chilton County when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 9-5. Can Pelham avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
