Basketball Recap: Archbishop Mcnicholas Starts Season with Victory Against Roger Bacon

Archbishop McNicholas had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They strolled past the Roger Bacon Spartans with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 56-41. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Archbishop McNicholas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Ehlers, who went 6-for-8 en route to 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks gave Ehlers a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kelyn Haucke, who posted 11 points.

Archbishop McNicholas and Roger Bacon will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Rockets will challenge rival Chaminade Julienne Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Roger Bacon is set to face off against their familiar foe Purcell Marian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
