Baseball Game Preview: St. Francis de Sales Knights vs. Wapakoneta Redskins

The St. Francis de Sales Knights will challenge the Wapakoneta Redskins at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (St. Francis de Sales 3.9, Wapakoneta 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Tommy Woycik made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Woycik wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Drew Tucker, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Tucker has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.

Meanwhile, Wapakoneta waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Fighting Irish.

Grant Jolly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Drew Bailey, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

St. Francis de Sales' record now sits at 21-10. As for Wapakoneta, their record is now 20-4.
