Game recap: Wilkinson County High School Football Team defeats Warren County

IRWINTON, Ga. - Special teams carried Wilkinson County (Irwinton, Ga.) to a 62-0 victory over Warren County (Warrenton, Ga.) on Saturday as the return units contributed two touchdowns. The Warriors's special teams scored on two punt returns.

Wilkinson County was up 47-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Bendict Davis to Jamerion Love in the first quarter.

The Irwinton school expanded its lead to 56 points entering the fourth quarter. The Warriors scored two times in the third, including once on a Ferrell Strange touchdown pass to Love.

A 33-point second quarter helped Wilkinson County secure the big victory. The Warriors scored on a touchdown run by Tyler Franklin, a passing touchdown, a punt return touchdown, a punt return touchdown and a touchdown catch by Davis in the quarter.

Love was the top performer for Wilkinson County. The senior wide receiver caught two touchdowns.



The Warriors entered the contest giving up 20.1 points per game this year. Wilkinson County held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Screaming Devils well below the 11.7 points it had been averaging per game.

A 34-22 Wilkinson County victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

The win was a nice bounce back for Wilkinson County, which lost to Lincoln County last week, 21-19.
