Softball Game Preview: Swett Warriors vs. Richmond Oilers

Swett is a perfect 10-0 against Richmond since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Swett Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the Richmond Oilers at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Swett has three straight wins, Richmond has 13 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Swett is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Hercules 22-9 on Friday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Rebekah Millan was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs but no hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Sanaia Tuuu was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Selene Schlepp was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

Swett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .607. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Richmond came up short against El Cerrito on Friday, falling 28-7.

Swett's record is now 4-1. As for Richmond, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Swett took their victory against Richmond when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 18-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Swett since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
