Softball Recap: Falls Lake Comes Up Short

Falls Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oxford Prep Griffins. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Daisy Tunstall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Falls Lake saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leah Horton, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Falls Lake's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Oxford Prep, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Falls Lake will host Roxboro Community at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Oxford Prep, they will face off against Franklin Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Oxford Prep's pitchers better be ready for this one: Franklin Academy has averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
