Football Game Preview: Amsterdam Rams vs. Niskayuna Silver Warriors

The Amsterdam Rams will head out on the road to take on the Niskayuna Silver Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Amsterdam comes in on three and Niskayuna on four.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Amsterdam and Columbia, and Amsterdam kept the tradition alive. The Rams came out on top against the Blue Devils by a score of 30-22 on Saturday.

Amsterdam's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luis Tirado led the charge by throwing for 318 yards and three TDs while picking up 12.2 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 55 yards and one score. Tirado's passing game has become a key predictor of the Rams' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Rocco Natale Jr also helped with two touchdowns in total.

Meanwhile, Niskayuna made easy work of La Salle Institute on Friday and carried off a 39-13 victory. With the Silver Warriors ahead 32-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Amsterdam better keep an eye on Chase Meisner. He was instrumental in Niskayuna's win, rushing for 104 yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave Meisner a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Cameron Grasso was another key receiver, gaining 106 total yards and two touchdowns.

One reason for the win was Niskayuna's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Brayson Cudmore was especially locked on to La Salle Institute's QB and sacked him twice.

Amsterdam's record now sits at 4-2. As for Niskayuna, their record is now 5-1.

Amsterdam and Niskayuna were almost perfectly matched up in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, but Amsterdam suffered an agonizing 29-28 loss. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
