Basketball Recap: Huguenot Takes a Loss

Huguenot was the 65-50 winner over Clover Hill when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Huguenot Falcons fell just short of the Clover Hill Cavaliers by a score of 52-50 on Monday. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Huguenot saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Horatio Kinlock went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, Kinlock is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevion Brown, who posted seven points along with six boards and three steals.

Huguenot's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Clover Hill, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-7.

Huguenot and Clover Hill could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Huguenot (ranked 173rd) will meet Monacan (ranked 32nd) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Similarly, Clover Hill (ranked 293rd) will meet L.C. Bird (ranked 46th) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
