Baseball Recap: Desert Edge Wins Going Away Against Buckeye

Desert Edge barely beat Buckeye the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Desert Edge put the hurt on Buckeye with a sharp 10-2 victory on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Scorpions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Caden Sheehan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Tyson Kinnear was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Desert Edge is undefeated when Kinnear posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Rene Ruiz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

The win got Desert Edge back to even at 3-3. As for Buckeye, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Desert Edge will have a chance to go back-to-back against Buckeye: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
