Basketball Game Preview: Denmark vs. Social Circle Redskins

Two dominant guards in Hannah Lopez and Jada Hyman are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Denmark will head out on the road to challenge the Social Circle Redskins at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Denmark took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 44-26 victory over Forsyth Central.

Meanwhile, Social Circle came tearing into Saturday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the Cardinals 47-44. While the Redskins didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Social Circle's win came from a few key players Denmark will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Hyman, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Social Circle's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laela Guy, who made all 5 shots she took to post 10 points and five boards.

Social Circle smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Social Circle has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Denmark, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

Everything came up roses for Denmark against Social Circle in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, as the team secured a 51-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Denmark since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
