Baseball Game Preview: Stoneman Douglas Eagles vs. Taravella Trojans

For the second straight game, Stoneman Douglas will face off against Taravella. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stoneman Douglas is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.

Stoneman Douglas is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Taravella as they made off with a 12-2 victory. Considering the Eagles have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Gio Rojas was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Nick Diaz was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Bennett Gary was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Stoneman Douglas pushed their record up to 26-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Taravella, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-12.
