Recap: Boquet Valley Griffins vs. Peru Nighthawks

The Boquet Valley Griffins entered their tilt with the Peru Nighthawks with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Boquet Valley walked away with a 59-48 victory over Peru on Monday. Given Boquet Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while Peru is ranked 687th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Boquet Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maddox Rice, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rice has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Hooper, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.

Boquet Valley's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. As for Peru, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Boquet Valley will head out on the road to square off against Ticonderoga at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ticonderoga is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Peru, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northern Adirondack at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
