Las Plumas has won five straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Gridley has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Thunderbirds will face off against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Las Plumas will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Corning, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Thunderbirds walked away with a 42-33 victory over the Cardinals on Friday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Las Plumas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Landucci, who rushed for 117 yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave Landucci a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Branden Robinson was another key signal caller, throwing for 164 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Las Plumas was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 287 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 193 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gridley). They blew past Live Oak, posting a 56-0 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 380th, while the Lions are ranked 821st).
Las Plumas better keep an eye on Eli Punzo. He was instrumental in Gridley's win, rushing for 201 yards and three scores on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 60 yards and a pair of TDs. Another rusher making a difference was Marcus Duncan, who rushed for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries.
Gridley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Punzo, Benny Dewsnup, Noe Moran, and Rafael Franco picked up one apiece. Jason Davis Jr. was another major factor on D, making eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Gridley's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Las Plumas, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Las Plumas has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 207.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Gridley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 285.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Las Plumas was dealt a bruising 40-6 loss at the hands of Gridley in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Thunderbirds, Gus Stogsdill (who rushed for 302 yards and six scores while picking up 10.1 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
