Baseball Game Preview: West Cabarrus Wolverines vs. Concord Spiders

The West Cabarrus Wolverines will take on the Concord Spiders at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Cabarrus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

West Cabarrus took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against South Iredell, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. West Cabarrus sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 win over South Iredell on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolverines.

The team relied heavily on Antonio Estevez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for West Cabarrus: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Cage Love was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Concord came up short against East Rowan on Friday and fell 10-6. The Spiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Concord saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reed Martin, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Concord's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for West Cabarrus, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 5-8.

West Cabarrus was able to grind out a solid win over Concord in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, winning 11-7. Does West Cabarrus have another victory up their sleeve, or will Concord turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
