Soccer Recap: Cardinal Newman Takes a Loss

Cardinal Newman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 5-2 to the Legion Collegiate Academy Lancers. Cardinal Newman were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Legion Collegiate Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Tanner Battafarano and Luke Stanek scored both of Cardinal Newman's goals, bringing their combined season tally to four goals.

Cardinal Newman now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Cardinal Newman didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-0 victory against Heathwood Hall Episcopal on the 24th. As for Legion Collegiate Academy, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Legacy Early College at 7:00 p.m. on the 28th.
