Softball Recap: St. Michael's Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact St. Michael can now relate to. They fell just short of the Robertson Cardinals by a score of 7-5 on Wednesday. The Horsemen were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won 6-4.

Mariella Ruiz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Ariana Rivera was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

St. Michael's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Robertson, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-13 record this season.

St. Michael's and Robertson are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Horsemen will square off against Tularosa at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. As for Robertson, they will challenge Dexter at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The Cardinals will need to watch out since the Demons have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
